Students in Applied Communications (Period 4 & 8) are continuing in the Unit: On the Edge. Today, they began the story The Leap by Louise Erdrich. Students copied down notes on making predictions and had discussions on this. I provided an example of how students frequently make predictions while watching TV or movies. .Students copied down the 8 vocabulary words on p. 41 in the textbook Elements of Literature: 4th Course. I explained the yellow box question are for making predictions within the text. Then we read aloud about the author on page 49. Iexplained that the author likes to pick the title for a story first, and then use the title to write about experiences and characters. We began reading the story together. Students will fill in the yellow box questions while reading.
