The Opportunity

10 graders are beginning a new story today called The Opportunity. This story is about Mrs. Wilson (a mother) who wants her daughter, Elise to be a businesswoman like herself. Elise wants to be an actress. Mrs. Wilson does not see as a realistic goal and does not want to see her daughter fail. Before reading, on Friday, the students investigated what their generation values as important and what older generations value. We did this because in the story, we see two different generations at odds. Today in class, the students are reading independently while answering 13 "during" reading questions. These questions will not only help the students understand what is going on in the story, but they also pertain to the "character" study as discussed from the PowerPoint presentation received at the introduction to Unit 2. Tomorrow, we will be discussing the story and the questions.
